The study assesses the readiness of Bulgarian companies to adopt digital learning platforms, using data from the National Statistical Institute and Eurostat. This assessment includes analysis of Internet usage, digital skills, cloud solutions, and collaboration with educational institutions.

Digital learning platforms are essential for building a learning culture in organisations due to global economic rivalry and the need for continual professional development. In the Balkans, attracting and retaining top people is essential for innovation and corporate growth. The 2023 Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) puts the Balkan nations 30th to 83rd out of 134 countries worldwide and 27th to 39th out of 39 European countries, exposing a talent gap in Europe. This study investigates the role of information technology (IT) infrastructure and digital skills as fundamental components for the effective implementation of digital learning platforms in professional training within the Balkan enterprises. This article explores how IT infrastructure and workers' digital competency affect Balkan digital learning platforms for professional development uptake and effectiveness.

Abstract: This paper examines the distinct yet complementary roles of NGO “Faithfull Guardian” (Verniyat Nastoynik) a Bulgarian nonprofit organization, and a local educational institution in addressing digital inequality and promoting social equity within marginalized communities. Focusing on each organization’s unique approaches and challenges, this comparative analysis investigates the impact of nonprofit-led digital literacy initiatives versus formal educational strategies in reducing socioeconomic disparities. The findings highlight the strengths, limitations, and potential synergies between these two types of organizations in fostering digital inclusion and economic self-sufficiency among vulnerable populations.

This report aims to explain the concept professional discrimination at the workplace and to indicate the main types of inequalities to which employees are subjected. The exposition examines discriminations such as: race/skin colour, age, national origin/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and political views, physical or mental disability. Examples are given and statistics are drawn from major labor markets such as the US and the UK, where the variety of different employee profiles is rich. Statistical data are presented for the specified countries and for the whole of Europe.

In the last decade of the 21st century, society has witnessed a revolution of cooperation as important as the industrial revolution. Sharing needs and spaces are not just terms of the future, but a product of the strong dynamics of technology development. Choosing a workspace becomes an opportunity to share values, help each other and collaborate between people from different professions and develop independent ideas, which in turn increases the interest in research on the topic. In an effort to comply with the rules of sustainability in business, more and more entrepreneurs are turning to social activities or implementing social elements in an existing one. The global crises from the economic, geopolitical, health and humanitarian aspects are increasingly determining the focus of business models with a focus on sustainability, social character influenced by the shared economy. For the purposes of this a research grant at the Free University of Brussels was performed in the frames of the project “Economic Education in Bulgaria 2030” financed by the OPNOIR. It is based also on results from the IRISI project of FNI.
