The article discusses different definitions of abilities, determines the characteristics of the abilities and examined the types of abilities. Special attention is paid to the mathematical abilities by clarifying their nature and examining their components. The article proposes a test for the diagnosis of mathematical abilities of 9-10-year-old schoolchildren.
