Abstract
This study focuses on firm-provided training by discussing results of a survey conducted in 2024 on continuing training (CT) across 280 private Bulgarian companies. The output implies that the firms’ demographics, particularly company size, determines to a great extend the training activity. The prevalence of small businesses which do not have enough time, financial and human resources for implementing proper HRM practices explains the low involvement in CT. Normatively imposed requirements for personnel’s qualifications are a major driver of business investments in continuing training. In this light, the government should take responsibility in supporting the companies in their efforts to invest in training.
