Abstract
The article focuses on one of the requirements in the assessment criteria of students' knowledge and skills in „Social Sciences and Civic Education“ - critical analysis of a historic document. The students’ skills to read and interpret a historic document during the first stage of the high school education give a successful start and basic training in competences such as reflection, understanding, awareness of the depth of the historical source and provoke students’ readiness to express their own opinion and active position. Their interest and participation will be guaranteed if interactive methods are applied.
