Abstract

The renarrative verb forms indicate that the information was reported to the speaker by someone else. In the modern newspapers language they are used to mythologize persons and events from the past (before 1989); to express ironic incredulity; to show journalistic disaffiliation and fear that the writer might be sanctioned, and precisely that is an indicator of lack of journalistic freedom and responsibility.
