Abstract

The paper presents main results from the study on students’ academic achievement motivation, carried out among the first- and the second-year students at the Faculty of Humanities, Burgas Free University. The students filled in a questionnaire and were asked to define 4 concepts („student”, „university teacher”, „higher education”, „lecture”) according to 16 pairs of adjectives. Data were analysed by semantic differential technique. From the students’ point of view the two main associations of academic education are „intelligent” and „responsible”.
