The paper presents the results of the study of self-regulation, self-determination, separation and individuation in a sample of 110 respondents, 40 of them diagnosed with disorders due to use of psychoactive substances. The comparative study demonstrated that the levels of self-determination in drug-dependent respondents are lower compared with the levels in healthy subjects. The problems with emotional separation and development of individuality were statistically higher in the group of substance dependant. The variables correlate with the severity of the consequences of drug dependence.
