Abstract: The success of a tourist destination is impossible without well qualified and ambitious staff who keep an eye on innovations and their implementation. Besides, in line with the trend of growth in the tourist industry, respectively the increased interest in spa tourism, the biggest challenge is the adequate parallel development of human resources which underpin the design and development of the tourism product that is offered. The systematic need for staff development in the field of the so called spa tourism requires a focus on: - Specialized training; - Using own and external training programmes; - Investing in staff development and staff motivation programmes; - Using the best practices in the field of education and staff development. In this context, the present study is aimed at identifying the training needs and demand for specific skills for the different specialists offering spa and wellness services.
